A bit about me

Why I went back.

Ten years on the side of the court — the Rafa Nadal Academy, a WTA player's team, the box at the Australian Open — telling players what the level demands.

There's one thing a coach can never fully know: what it feels like to be the one out there.

So at 32, I went and found out.

About

Both sides of the net.

At 32, after a decade coaching at the top of the sport, I entered the ITF tour myself.

The story

Ten years telling players what the level demands.

For ten years, I’ve stood on the side of the court. At the Rafa Nadal Academy, developing juniors alongside the Kuwait Tennis Federation. Working in the Netherlands at a high-performance academy with top junior players across all levels on the ITF circuit, including the Junior Grand Slams. And as part of the team around professional players on the WTA tour.

Through all of it, I’ve helped players understand what the level demands — how to prepare, how to compete, and how to handle the days when things don’t work.

But there’s one thing a coach can never fully know. What it actually feels like to be the one out there.

So I went to find out. Around twenty tournaments a year, self-funded, all over the world. Not to relaunch a playing career — to come back a considerably better coach.

What this season is for.

Three things I can only learn by being out there — and every one of them goes straight back into my coaching.

01

The things you can't teach

Scheduling, load, recovery, money — and how you actually handle losing when it's your own week on the line.

02

A method, not opinions

A documented year of what genuinely separates one level from the next, tested on myself first.

03

Credibility that lasts

When I tell a player I know what this asks of them, I'll have earned the right to say it.

In their words

The people I've worked alongside.

“Martijn is one of the most competent and reliable tennis coaches that I have worked with. I think he has very good work ethic and personal values that translate into his tennis coaching.”

Nuno Marques
Tennis Director · Rafa Nadal Academy, Kuwait
Career high ATP 86 · Portugal Davis Cup captain

“I have really enjoyed working with Martijn, and we remain in excellent contact. His tennis level allows him to work with players at the very top of the WTA Tour. He is professional, dependable and a pleasure to be around. I would confidently recommend him to any player, both as a coach and as a hitting partner.”

For the players coming up.

Junior players chasing a professional pathway, and the parents making the decisions alongside them — plus the younger pros, coaches and clubs who want a view from inside the tour.

Who it’s for

Three kinds of people I work with.

Juniors & their parents

The pathway years. Which academy, how many tournaments, and whether the level is really there.

Coaches

A second read from inside a WTA team and the ITF tour. Alongside your work, never around it.

Clubs & academies

A visiting professional for your members, working with your resident coaches.

Get started

Tell me what you’re working on.

A couple of lines is plenty to start. If I’m not the right person, I’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

Brand partnerships

A season we build together.

Both sides bring something to this, and both sides get something back — across one full season.

Working together

What comes back to you.

Three areas, and every partnership below draws from them — so whatever part you cover, you know exactly what it's tied to.

Experience

A coach for your people

  • A clinic for your guests
  • A session for your staff, or your members
  • Run at your venue, or a club I arrange
Product

Your product, properly tested

  • Written feedback from a coach — why it performs, not just whether I liked it
  • Demo days, and your product in front of the players I coach
Access

The people who buy tennis

  • In front of club members, juniors and the parents making the decisions
  • Every euro of the season published, with your name on the part you cover

What a season actually costs.

These are the real costs of competing — travel, entries, accommodation, equipment. Every part covered has something your brand gains from.

€900
ProductAccess

What this looks like from your side.

01

Not one of forty logos

A handful of partners, not a shirt covered in them. You’re named in every post, every published account, and at every event I run.

02

It happens either way

The clinic runs. The session happens. The account gets published. Nothing here waits on a scoreline going my way.

03

Something your people can join

A session for your staff, your clients or your members — something they take part in rather than just see on a shirt.

04

One season, one decision

Easy to approve, easy to renew if it works, and easy to end cleanly if it doesn’t.

Next step

Let's talk about what this could look like.

Tell me roughly what interests you and I'll come back to you. Nothing is fixed — the packages are a starting point, and the best partnerships usually end up shaped around what a company actually needs.

Contact

Get in touch.

Two ways to work together. Tell me which one fits and we’ll take it from there.

Write to me

Start a conversation.

Tell me what you're after and I'll come back to you — usually within a couple of days, allowing for time zones and match schedules.
